Island women help design new life jacket with GPS tracking technology…
The Outlast is an automatically inflating life jacket with built-in marine radio emergency communications.
Man overboard situations happen. The Outlast will automatically respond to emergencies so you get back on board as soon as possible.
The life jacket automatically inflates and turns on the communication and tracking system.
The signal is sent to the crew and coast guard after a 30 second window where the man overboard can cancel the signal if the emergency is under control.
A confirmation is sent to you so you know that your distress message has been received.
The benefits were determined after conversations with active fishers in the industry. Each interview provided valuable insights that resulted in a lifejacket with benefits that will outlast the competitions.
Your crew and the Coast Guard will know your location and will be updated as it changes.
Know that your message has been sent and that help is on the way.
The life jacket will automatically inflate to ensure you are safe in any man overboard situation.
This product is specifically designed for the harsh working conditions faced by commercial fishers.
It is ergonomically designed so that you can be comfortable while you work.
The product launch team consists of three individuals that are passionate about Atlantic Canada and are dedicated to pursuing a cause that will directly benefit their community.

Our first product will be available in 2021. This product will be a PFD that is customized for the commercial fishing industry and will have improved ergonomics.
Product has a useful life of 5 years and has been designed to account for the rubbing of the jacket on the traps and daily usage.
A rearming kit is needed to replace the CO2 canister and other consumable parts of the inflation system after the life jacket has been used. The replacement process has been simplified in our design.
We are currently in the last phase of prototyping before our MVP, purchases will be available through local marine retailers.
